Old Path, White Clouds

with Sydney Hall & Beverly Feldt
Four Tuesdays, August 6-27, 6-8 p.m.
"Reading Old Path, White Clouds is like diving into a deliciously long, entrancing fairy tale." - Beverly Feldt
Join us for a four-week summer study group based on Thich Nhat Hanh's book, Old Path, White Clouds: Walking in the Footsteps of the Buddha. Through the eyes of the Buddha and Svasti, the buffalo boy, Hanh gently weaves together the 80-year life and teachings of Guatama Buddha. The book contains the foundational teachings of the Buddhist path, offering a magical and approachable introduction to the Sutras, the oral teachings of the Buddha.
Each class begins with mindfulness-awareness instructionand practice. We take the time to sit and simply be together, following the breath in the present moment. The heart of each gathering includes a discussion of the week's readings. The text is divided into three books. This four-week study group will focus on Book Two, the heart of the Buddha's teachings as he walked throughout northern India teaching and building a sangha. (It is not required that you have read Book One to take this class.) Everyone is encouraged to bring questions, ideas, concerns, and curiositiesto the group each week. The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming of everyone’s experience.
Level: Everyone is welcome, including beginners and advanced practitioners.
