“Again and again, the warden and prison staff have commented on the positive impact yoga has made on the inmates' stress level, outlook, and interpersonal skills.” - Piers Kaniuka
Join us for a special evening of yoga nidra, relaxation, and sound healing. Support your own wellness, as well as offer thanks and support to the Liberation Institute, an inspiring local non-profit. All proceeds from the event will directly support the Institute's Yoga Teacher Training program at the Maine State Prison.
“Our students have become our teachers. They have welcomed us into their world and taught us lessons that we could learn nowhere else. That they can find peace, meaning, and purpose within the confines of a maximum security prison is powerful testimony to the resiliency of the human spirit,” says Piers Kaniuka. He continues, “Again and again, the prison staff have commented on the positive impact yoga has made on the inmates' stress level, outlook, and interpersonal skills.”
Founded in 2014, the Liberation Institute is a 501(c)(3) that offers education, wellness, and recovery services to underserved populations in northern New England and beyond.
