"Reading Old Path, White Clouds is like diving into a deliciously long, entrancing fairy tale." - Beverly Feldt
The Buddha's Footsteps is a four-week study group based on Old Path, White Clouds: Walking in the Footsteps of the Buddha by Thich Nhat Hanh. Through the eyes of the Buddha himself and Svasti, the buffalo boy, Thich Nhat Hanh gently weaves together the 80-year life and teachings of Guatama Buddha. Old Path, White Clouds contains the foundational teachings of the Hinayana Buddhist path, offering an approachable and magical introduction to the Sutras, the oral teachings of the Buddha.
Each class will begin with mindfulness-awareness meditation instruction and practice. We will take the time to sit and simply be together, to look deeply into the present moment. The heart of each gathering will include a discussion of the week's readings. The text is divided into three books. This four-week study group will focus on Book Two, the heart of the Buddha's teachings as he walked all over northern India teaching and building a sangha. (It is not required that you have read Book One to take this class.)
Everyone is encouraged to bring questions, ideas, concerns, and curiosities to the group each week. The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming of everyone’s experience.
Level: Everyone is welcome, including beginners and advanced practitioners.
